Operations Manager – Telecommunications Program

The Operations Manager supervises and manages a growing team consisting of professionals and technicians that pursue, obtain, and execute global public and local private sector telecommunications infrastructure projects. The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of the department by providing leadership and strategic direction. This hands-on role provides guidance while personally managing larger projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages project pursuits by working with Business Development Manager, Designer, Project Managers, company Executives, and customers
  • Provides direct supervision of office-based, remote, and onsite team members including communicating the strategic vision, leading regular team meetings, providing performance management, identifying, and monitoring professional development opportunities, organizing departmental roles, and recruiting/hiring of new employees
  • Directly and indirectly manages the projects including estimating, design development, client relations from bidding to project closeout, provides monthly status updates
  • Performs research, organizes plans, and implements strategic initiatives to grow the commercial ICT business in the Carolinas and expand the federal ICT portfolio
  • Manages department budget as determined by the company Executive team, responsible for monitoring profit and loss, reporting key information to Executives
  • Builds, manages, and enhances relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, manufactures and vendors to ensure successful execution current and future projects; includes business related travel up to 25% for client/vendor meetings and conferences
  • Develops the ICT Safety Program, monitors certifications and coordinates required job-specific and position-specific trainings/certifications required for ICT team members
  • Manages inventory of equipment necessary for project execution and defines strategy to obtain equipment/materials for future project needs
  • Manages the continuous development of departmental Standard Operating Procedures, policy and processes that contribute to the sustainability of departmental operations
  • Participates in company leadership retreats and quarterly leadership meetings
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent preferred
  • Accreditation through Building Industry Consulting Services International (Bisci) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • 15 or more years’ experience in the IT/ICT industry: voice/data/audio/video technology, electronic safety & security, telecommunications project management, design, integration & installation of telecommunications distributions, all-fiber and copper-based distribution systems and infrastructure, commercial transportation of information and data, wireless networking, data center design, OSP/ISP cabling
  • 7 or more years’ experience in successful business development
  • 5 or more years’ experience in telecommunications/IT infrastructure project management, to include responsibilities in preconstruction and project execution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Experience in working with government clients and/or processes preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage one’s time and priorities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally required
