Project Engineer

We're looking to hire a Project Engineer for a project in the Carolina Beach/Kure Beach area. The Project Engineer supports the Commercial Construction division's project team with planning and daily execution of the project as an onsite resource. This entry-level position assists in maintaining the project schedule, managing the submittal approval process, coordinating delivery of materials, and ensuring jobsite safety standards. The Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager under the supervision of the Program Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages project schedules, procurement, subcontractors, resources, and project documentation.
  • Assists in the management of Owner Change Orders, Subcontractor Change Orders, RFI’s, and project closeout.
  • Conducts regular job site inspections to ensure installations meet, or exceed, approved submittals, shop drawings and quality of construction in support of overall project schedule.
  • Manages, document, and keep record of project submittals with subcontractors, design team and owners to ensure all materials are approved in a timely manner to keep the project on schedule.
  • Before any project, meeting with the PM, Superintendent, and Estimator to discuss project setup, team structure, schedule, and project approach.
  • Manage and update all Contract Drawings and Specifications with Architect Supplemental Information to ensure field operations has the most current set of documents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, construction technology, engineering, engineering technology, or related technical discipline
  • Prior construction experience in co-op or internship program with a General Contractor preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Outlook, project management software (Procore or similar), cost management software (SAGE 100 or similar), scheduling software (Primavera P6 or similar), and Adobe
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills 
  • Ability to perform work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage one’s time, delegate tasks, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple items at one time
