Sr. Fiber Technician

We're seeking a Sr. Fiber Technician to support a major contract within our Federal Information and Communication Technology Program in the Souther California region. The Sr. Fiber Technician will assist with our construction projects installing structured cabling, support infrastructure, terminating cabling, and installing equipment. This position would collaborate directly with Project Management to assist with the daily operations on site while mitigating risk, improving, and advancing the ICT initiatives and promoting Brawley as an industry leader.


  • Perform OSP/ISP fiber installation duties on site, independently and with a team
  • Fusion splice fiber optic cables
  • Support the implementation of Inside Plant (ISP) copper and fiber optic cabling systems for voice, data, and video on customer premises.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; follow designated job specifications
  • Perform underground cabling installation including termination
  • Review, understand, and execute project proposals/quotations/work orders, personnel requirements, equipment and cabling specifications, material management, tooling, and transportation requirements for assigned project(s).
  • Perform site survey(s) as directed by management.
  • Provide "as built" documentation used to identify all materials, labor, equipment, and tooling used on projects, invoice customer, show proof of satisfactory completion of project and provide or update final "formal" documentation as required by the project specifications.
  • Ensure assigned projects are completed on time, within budget and to industry standards


  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in commercial structured cabling and knowledge of the industry
  • Experience working with Federal contracts, DOD or DOS preferred
  • Top Secret Security Clearance preferred
  • Familiarity with BICSI, FOA, EIA, TIA, and NEC standards
  • Existing BISCI Technician certifications preferred
  • Cable and Systems certifications preferred
  • Knowledge of standard construction safety practices, OSHA 10 certificate preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Networking using LAN/WAN, switch gear and routers
  • Ability to create documentation, reporting and communication using MS/Google platforms
  • Valid driver’s license and travel to various locations within and/or outside of state
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and one-line diagrams
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills
  • Communication with client, other trades, and management
  • Must be able to travel within a 50-mile radius of Camp Pendleton, up to 25% of the time
